Cold Car refrigerated bodies use glycol plates with the Italian company's proprietary solution (higher efficiency than the standard factory solution used by competitors). They are electrically charged at the depot using three-phase or single-phase power. During delivery, the eutectic plate refrigeration system releases cold without an engine, without power, without noise.


A Cold Car body is not simply a set of eutectic plates — it is a complete solution where insulation, plates and interior configuration are designed from the outset as a single system.
The GRP panels carry a single-coat acrylic paint finish — the same method used on truck bodywork. The paint seals the polyester pores, preventing the diffusion of the polyurethane blowing agent — the gas responsible for the foam's insulating performance. Without this protection, the gas gradually escapes and thermal performance degrades over the years. Competitors supply panels unpainted. The cost difference exceeds €1,000 per body.
Locks, hinges and door hardware are specified for heavy professional use — unlike competitors who reduce cost and weight by fitting mid-grade components.
The Cold Car plate solution is a patented proprietary formula — not the standard industry compound. The result: higher thermal storage capacity and optimum performance across the 8–12 hour urban distribution cycles.
Cold Car bodies last up to 20 years. On platform cabs under 3.5t, the body can be transferred to a new chassis at end of vehicle life — extending its use through a second or third cycle.
It is a complete factory-built body by Italian manufacturer Cold Car S.p.A. — insulation, plates and fittings are designed as one system. It is not a plate system installed inside a body made by another manufacturer.

Cold Car bodies are optimised for urban distribution cycles of 8–12 hours. One overnight charge is sufficient for a full delivery day.
Yes — and it is the ideal system for EVs. It charges at the depot and uses none of the vehicle battery during delivery. Zero energy consumption, zero emissions.
With a Cold Car body there is no breakdown risk on the road — the refrigeration system is completely switched off during delivery. There is no engine running. Cooling is provided solely by the charged plates.
